Welcome to Twin Cities Test Prep Tutor, a tutoring and academic coaching business founded by Margaret Duden. Margaret specializes in helping highly motivated students hone their writing skills and prepare for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT to help maximize their likelihood of acceptance at highly competitive universities.
Margaret provides customized, one-on-one tutoring to students over Zoom. Margaret tutors every student every session herself. There is no set curriculum; rather, each session is tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual student.
Through her tutoring, Margaret aims to equip students with lifelong skills, study strategies, and inner confidence that will benefit them in more ways than just improved standardized test scores. Margaret’s tutoring philosophy is based on the following principles:
- Tutoring should be an empowering experience that boosts students’ confidence and self-esteem. Margaret celebrates students’ strengths, progress, and growth, and she respects students’ unique values and identities.
- Tutoring should encourage students to take ownership of their learning and gain new skills in metacognition. Margaret encourages students to reflect on their preferred learning styles, develop individualized study strategies, exercise critical thinking about areas for further growth, and recognize that regular practice is essential for improvement.
- Tutoring should be a collaborative process built on respectful communication and feedback. Margaret respects her students’ priorities and goals, customizing feedback, homework, and instruction to help each student accomplish their objectives. Margaret welcomes feedback from her students regarding ways to improve her sessions or approach in order to better meet their needs.
- Tutoring should build skills and strategies that are applicable beyond the classroom and standardized tests. Margaret aims to cultivate students’ love of learning, pride in accomplishment, and growth mindset.
